Hongqiao gets EVCARD cars
JIADING-BASED EVCARD, Shanghai’s biggest hourly car rental operator, has launched its electric car rental service at Hongqiao transportation hub.
At Hongqiao Railway Station, EVCARD has 45 exclusive parking spaces. Not far away is the company’s Hongqiao airport outlet.
EVCARD has expanded its electric car rental service to 23 cities around the country. It has more than 2,800 outlets nationwide while 8,500 electric cars are in operation.
The company receives more than 300,000 orders for its service every month and plans to form a fleet of more than 70,000 electric cars to serve members in 50 Chinese cities.
More than 4,000 EVCard vehicles are available in Shanghai at present. They provide services on 15,000 occasions every day with each ride of four hours long on average.
Registered users of EVCard can check the availability of electric cars nearby, book one and pay for it via their smartphone. The rental period can be as short as half an hour, at a price of 15 yuan (US$2.4), with each minute adding 0.5 yuan until a daily maximum of 180 yuan is reached.
All the services are self-help. Cars are opened with the swipe of a smartcard and recharging services are available at every parking spot. The cars can be returned to any outlet.
