High-quality rice soon for sale for holiday
Farms in Waigang and Huating towns have started to harvest rice, making it ready for sale around the upcoming National Day holiday.
On September 14, four large harvesters were at work on a farm in Waigang Town, producing an estimated yield of around 43 tons.
The harvesting process was fully automatic, including low-temperature drying at around 40 degrees Celsius, with strict controls in place to ensure a natural taste and high quality.
“Rainfall was relatively higher this year and total output is expected to be slightly lower than the same period last year,” said Liu Bo, an executive with the Waigang Town Food Production Cooperative. “However, the quality of the rice is higher, and we started harvesting a few days earlier than last year.”
Average prices will be around 20 yuan (US$2.94) per kilogram, and the rice can be ordered online or at cooperatives.
