F1 championship just one of the many attractions at city’s auto culture festival
Lewis Hamilton became the first Formula One driver to successfully defend his title at the Chinese Grand Prix by sealing a second one-two finish of the season for Mercedes alongside teammate Nico Rosberg.
The pair managed to retain their 1-2 position from the start. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was third, followed by teammate Kimi Raikkonen.
“We knew the Ferraris were very, very good with their long-run pace and also looking after their tires so today the real goal was to manage the tires and my goal was to look after my car,” two-time world champion Hamilton said at the post-race press conference.
It was the Briton’s 25th career win and his fourth in Shanghai, having won here in 2008, 2011 and 2014.
Meanwhile, the annual auto culture festival is under way in Jiading to the end of the month.
Art and cultural hotspot
The Water Square inside the Shanghai International Circuit was the main place for a series of events and promotions during the 3-day F1 race. Professional coaches from the Wind Tunnel Flying Experience Center demonstrated wind tunnel flying while visitors could participate in a horse exhibition, watch a kart show and play golf.
Apart from sports, Jiading New City is striving to become an art and cultural hotspot.
During the festival, a group of theaters and malls including Shanghai Poly Grand Theater and Citic Square’s Festival Walk joined Jiading New City for displays and promotions.
Evcard, an electric vehicles rental project, has special offers on electric car rentals during the festival. Special discounts are available at weekends from www.ly.com and www.lvmama.com.
Offers include an electric vehicle for eight hours a day with tickets for sites that include Shanghai Auto Museum, Guyi Garden, Malu Grape Theme Park and Huating Modern Agriculture Park. Charging the car, and returning it after your day, shouldn’t be a problem as the company has more than56 locations across Jiading at the moment.
Meanwhile, the Jiading District government is taking advantage of the Shanghai Auto Culture Festival as a great opportunity to attract more investors to promote the regional economy.
The government recently invited entrepreneurs from companies specializing in auto, health care and medical care to the district for an inspection tour.
