Erhu star considers launching studio in Jiading

CHINESE erhu player Guo Gan visited Jiading recently with the idea of setting up a studio.
Guo has worked with many musicians and artists around the world and traveled to more than 70 countries.
The Shenyang native went to France in 2000 and settled down in Paris after graduating from the National Music School of Fresnes.
Since then, he has played in nearly 2,000 concerts and produced more than 40 albums. He has performed at many famous concert halls including New York’s Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Hall, the Chicago Symphony Hall, the Royal Music Hall in Geneva, and Paris City Hall.
Guo is the first Chinese traditional musician to have been awarded the title of “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres” by the French government. The ceremony was on April 25, 2016 at the French embassy in Beijing.
He has been a missionary for Sino-French culture exchanges.
He also played on behalf of the French Culture Ministry in Zhouzhuang, a water town in Jiangsu Province and at the French Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo.
Guo has played with many of the world’s most famous musicians. Among his many musical collaborations he has worked with Chinese composer Tan Dun and pianist Lang Lang.
