Yangpu Binjiang is the birthplace of modern industrial civilization in China, with “13 firsts,” including the first civilian industrial enterprise, Shanghai Machine Paper Bureau, the first modern water plant, Yangshupu Water Plant, and the largest power plant in the Far East, Yangshupu Power Plant.
It is praised by UNESCO as the “world’s only remaining largest riverside industrial belt.”
It also witnessed the heroic act of industrial workers to resist exploitation and ignite the fire of revolution.
All of this is deeply etched into the urban texture of Yangpu, and has become the urban gene of Yangpu, embodying the emotional memories of the people of Yangpu and Shanghai.
With the gradual acceleration of development along the Huangpu River, a new “opening method” has been adopted for the industrial heritage sites that stretch along the riverbank.
The shoreline, which used to be mainly factories and warehouses, is constantly transforming toward a lifestyle shoreline, ecological shoreline and landscape shoreline dominated by parks and green spaces.
The current Yangpu Binjiang is once again shining on the east bank of the Huangpu River with its brand-new appearance, versatile functions and vibrant environment.
In the future, Yangpu Binjiang will become a carrier of major strategies and important missions.
As the first place to propose the concept of a people’s city, a key point of the city’s “one river, one creek” development strategy, and a growth pole for Yangpu to play its “central radiation” function, Yangpu Binjiang has unique resources and shoulders an important mission.
In the future, Yangpu Binjiang will become a base point driven by innovation and high-quality development. The future Yangpu Binjiang will become a new model of world-class waterfront lines.
Facing the future, every effort will be made to build Yangpu Binjiang into a demonstration area for people’s urban construction in the new era, a development show belt of the Chinese path to modernization and a blooming window for the great rejuvenation of the nation.
