Professionals embrace pure, natural, positive and energetic environment

The blue sky casts vivid silhouettes across the glass walls of the headquarters of multinational enterprises on Dalian Road. Wearing headphones, humming a tune and holding a cup of coffee, an influx of Chinese and foreign office workers cheerfully rush to the modern office buildings.

These are the common scenes in Yangpu Binjiang every morning. The beautiful environment and clean air of the area may be one of the reasons why an increasing number of professionals choose to work here.

In recent years, Yangpu has spared no effort to attract regional headquarters of multinational conglomerates, research and development centers, and put priority on developing digital economy. As a result, a group of Fortune 500 companies and industry leading firms have settled down in the district.

Foreign investment in high-tech industries accounts for more than 80 percent of the district’s foreign investment, contributing one 10th of Shanghai’s high-tech industry investment, according to Yangpu District government.

In 2022, Yangpu utilized nearly US$1.1 billion in foreign investment, ranking among the top in all the districts of the city.

Since the beginning of this year, Yangpu’s foreign investment has achieved stable growth, with a use of foreign investment of US$382 million from January to March, a year-on-year increase of 5.45 percent.

To further promote high-level opening-up, make greater efforts to introduce high-quality foreign investment projects, and better support Yangpu’s foreign-invested companies in strengthening their confidence in development, the district has launched a series of supporting policies and services.

It is launching the “six ones” service measures — namely, establishing a working mechanism, building a communication platform, visiting a group of key enterprises, promoting favorable enterprise policies, coordinating and solving problems, and connecting development resources.

Xue Kan, director and Party secretary of Yangpu, stated that foreign-funded enterprises have a new round of development opportunities in Yangpu.

“The macro environment is favorable,” he said.

“Both the central government’s visionary strategic plan and Shanghai’s intensive implementation measures have conveyed a clear signal of promoting comprehensive economic recovery with high-level openness, bringing the greatest certainty to the development of foreign-funded enterprises. The investment prospects are enormous.”

Multinational conglomerates rooted in Yangpu are confident, and also optimistic about Shanghai.

Li Nan, managing director of Tishman Speyer and general manager for The Springs project, revealed that The Springs is the first project of Tishman Speyer in Shanghai and the largest ever development project of Tishman Speyer in China.

The project has a total above ground construction area of 900,230 square meters, including a LEED gold certified Grade A office building, high-quality residential buildings, star hotels, catering and retail, cultural and entertainment facilities, and public green spaces.

As the gateway to Yangpu Xinjiangwan area, The Springs fully integrates regional characteristics and aims to create an international, intelligent and ecological future multi-functional community, becoming the center for gathering talented people and stimulating creativity in Yangpu.

“The Springs received high attention from Yangpu District, ” Li said. “Relevant departments in Yangpu provided important guidance and strong assistance, forming a good pattern of strong cooperation.”
