A GROUP of Shanghai engineers has set up a wireless communication system in Sichuan to monitor works at a quake-formed lake which is on the verge of flooding.

"The system can ensure live pictures and sounds of the site works," Bu Zhiyong, a researcher of the Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, said yesterday.

The system, which adopts fourth generation wireless technology, has been installed near the dam of the Tangjiashan earthquake lake in Mianyang, Sichuan Province, Bu said.
