2009-8-27

THE massive steel structure was finished yesterday on the joint pavilion of Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation and General Motors, the sole vehicle-maker pavilion at the 2010 World Expo.

More than 1,800 tons of steel have been used to form a 6,000-square-meter, cylinder-shaped structure at the Expo's Puxi site along the Huangpu River.

The pavilion will showcase the auto makers' advanced technology and their future transport vision.

Twenty-nine academics from around the world are looking into future transportation, the results of which will be shown during the Expo, said Jin Qi, director of the pavilion.
