Shanghai had donated more than 2.5 billion yuan (US$367 million) to quake-hit areas in Sichuan Province up to last September. The money will be used on eight projects, the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau said yesterday.

These will include rest homes and restoring buildings in the countryside. The bureau will also support social work in Dujiangyan by sending experts to train local workers.

Bureau officials said they will develop new projects according to Dujiangyan's needs.
