Vehicle crackdown
Traffic authorities are cracking down on oversized and overloaded trucks, unlicensed cabs and other traffic violations, city officials said at a recent press conference.
They are mainly targeting oversized and overloaded trucks on highways around Hangzhou, particularly on elevated roads and bridges and in tunnels. Unlicensed cabs operating around the West Lake scenic area, Qianjiang New Town, Olympic Sports Center, Xixi National Wetland Park, railway and Metro stations, and coach terminals are also a major target.
Police will also punish those who make phone calls while driving, run red lights, make illegal lane changes, drive drunk, exceed the speed limit, park illegally and use fake license plates.
