Top swimmers to train
The General Administration of Sports of China (GASC) signed a five-year agreement with the Zhejiang provincial government on Sunday to train top swimmers in Hangzhou.
“Zhejiang has rich experience in training top swimmers and we hope they can expand their skills to win more medals at international tournaments,” said Liu Daqing, director of the GASC’s swimming administration center.
“We plan to recruit athletes from all over China and recruit high-level coaches from every corner of the globe to cultivate talent,” said Zhang Yadong, chairman of Zhejiang Sports Technical Institute.
During the recent National Games in Tianjin, Zhejiang swimmers won 19 gold medals out of 35. Olympic medalists Sun Yang and Fu Yuanhui, both from Zhejiang, are among the top performers in China.
