TV professionals meet

INTERNATIONAL and Chinese TV professionals gathered in Hangzhou this week for the MIPChina Summit Hangzhou, an event organized by the Cannes Film Festival.

It was the first of its kind in Asia.

Marche International des Programmes (MIP) China Hangzhou International Content Summit aimed to bring Chinese and Western companies together to develop new programs across all genres. It conducted forums, held meetings and a two-day training conference for Chinese TV executives looking to develop content for international markets.

“International cooperation is the future for everybody,” said Laurie Garande, director of the TV division of Reed MIDEM. “It’s important to combine skills, content, and techniques.”

“Younger generation in the West are more open to different language and culture,” said Anke Redl, strategy and business development director of China Media Management Inc. “Collaboration and coproduction are important so that the Chinese companies can understand the Western audiences that they want to reach.”

The event also included a training conference for Chinese media professionals looking to develop content for international markets.
