Rail groundbreaking

A groundbreaking ceremony was held recently in Changyuan Village, Yongjia County, to build the Hangzhou-Wenzhou High-speed Railway.

The 331-kilometer rail line can shorten the trip from Hangzhou to Wenzhou to just 65 minutes, compared with three hours currently and four hours by expressway.

The 39-billion-yuan railway will run through Xiaoshan, Zhuji, Dongyang, Pan’an, Xianju and Yongjia before reaching Wenzhou, a coastal city in southeast Zhejiang Province.

The first phase of the railway is from Yiwu to Wenzhou with four stations in between. Private investors will hold a 51 percent share of the railway and the rest is owned by China Railway Engineering Corporation.
