Permanent resident cards

THE Zhejiang Provincial Public Security Department issued foreign permanent resident ID cards to seven expatriates in Hangzhou on Monday.

The seven expatriates are skilled professionals from Australia, Germany, Japan, France and Canada. They received the ID cards from Xu Jia’ai and Mao Shan’en, director and deputy director of the department, at a ceremony.

Dubbed the Chinese “green card,” the foreign permanent resident ID card allows its holder to enjoy the same benefits as Chinese citizens. Card holders don’t need a visa to enter and exit China. They can use the card to buy train and air tickets, insurance, or check into a hotel.
