Heritage photo show
THE First Hangzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage Photo Show wrapped up at Hangzhou Science Exchange Hall over the weekend. Featuring silk cocoon stretching technique, Hangzhou-dialect storytelling and other art forms, the photos on display at the exhibition celebrated Hangzhou’s cultural traditions.
Hangzhou-dialect storytelling can be traced back to Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) when Hangzhou was the capital. Storytellers spoke the local dialect, occasionally with some Henan accent as the imperial court moved from Henan to Hangzhou to escape the invading Jurchens. Also on display were photos of a set of porcelain cups made for Chairman Mao Zedong in the early 1970s, the folk opera of Chun’an County, and linen embroidery of Zhenzhong Village in Chun’an.
