Hangzhou tourism award

Hangzhou has been elected as one of the 15 best practice cities in tourism by UNWTO, the world’s most influential tourism organization.

Hangzhou won the award as the city that sticks to tourism development with the concept of “visitor first, people oriented and internationalized,” and persistently promotes protection and development on the cultural and historical resources in an innovative manner.

The other award winners include Antwerp, Berlin, Buenos Aires, Bogota, Beijing, Cape Town, Copenhagen, Linz, Marrakech, Seoul, Sapporo, Turin, Tianjin and Tokyo.

Hangzhou Tourism Commission also received invitation by UNWTO to join the annual meeting in Kuala Lumpur in December to introduce its experience as the only best practice award winner representative in Asia Pacific region.

UNWTO started the global tourism best practice city selection from last December, sending expert teams to carry out research and on-site performance appraisal on the economy, environment, urban management, culture, society, scientific and business new model among the organization’s 193 member nations or regions.
