Haining rail deal

HAINING City Government has recently inked a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Zhejiang Province Transport Investment Group to build an inter-city railway between Hangzhou and Haining.

The inter-city railway is expected to start construction by the end of this year and put to use before the end of 2020. The 47.7-kilometer railway will connect Yuhang High Speed Railway Station with Biyun Railway Station in downtown Haining.

There will be 10 stations along the railway. The designed speed is 120 kilometers per hour and an estimated 13.61 billion yuan (US$2.05 billion) will be invested in the project.

After the railway is built, it takes only 40 minutes to travel from Hangzhou to Haining. Passengers can transfer to the Metro Line 1. Passengers will be able to buy joint ticket for Metro Line 1 and the railway line at Wulin Square Station.
