Dragon Boat train rush
TICKETS for trains from Hangzhou to nearby cities such as Lishui, Ningbo and Wenzhou are in short supply as the traditional Dragon Boat Festival comes with a three-day holiday from May 28 to 30.
The Shanghai Railway Bureau which operates railways in east China estimates 8.7 million people will travel by train between May 27 and 30, 6.1 percent more than the same period of last year. May 28 will see an estimated peak of 2.45 million travelers.
The bureau will add 86 trains, including 62 on the Hangzhou-Lishui and Hangzhou-Ningbo routes. Other trains are from Shanghai to Nanjing, Hangzhou, Hefei, Xuzhou, from Hefei to Huangshan and Wenzhou, and from Nanjing to Hangzhou.
Tickets for Hangzhou-Ningbo, Hangzhou-Wenzhou and Hangzhou-Lishui services are in short supply, especially services on the afternoons of May 27 and 30 and the whole day of May 28.
