Copyright deals sealed
Copyright deals worth a total of 135 million yuan (US$20.45 million) were settled during the 2017 Hangzhou 3rd Copyright Cooperation and Trade Conference at the Jianguo Hotel on Sunday.
They included Red Star Theater staging a three-dimensional interpretation with holography technology of a performance by Teresa Teng, one of China’s best-known singers.
Audiences will be able to see her singing two of her iconic songs on stage without the use of special glasses or other optics as early as next year.
Digital Domain, founded by Hollywood director James Cameron, will provide a high-tech solution, under one of the agreements. As a result, Red Star Theater in Hangzhou will be the first theater in China to be equipped with holographic technology.
The number of online readers in China reached 353 million by June, and nearly half of them were aged 19 to 24, Xia Lie, chairman of the Hangzhou Net Writers Association, told the conference.
In addition, the value of online literature in China exceeded 10 billion yuan (US$1.4 billion) last year, he said.
