A ceremony was held on Monday to launch 66 construction projects with a total investment of 84.11 billion yuan (US$12.37 billion), including Metro Line 9 and the Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Center.
The Olympic and expo complex will have an 18,000-seat stadium, a 6,000-seat natatorium and other facilities totaling 396,950 square meters of space, with half underground.
Metro Line 9 will connect Linping area with downtown Hangzhou with 14 stations along its 17-kilometer route from Sijiqing Market to Qianjiang New Town, Linping New Town and Yuhang Economic Development Zone. Its first-phase project will cost 17.2 billion yuan and finish in 2021. The western section of the Raocheng Highway, a ring road around Hangzhou, will connect Fuyang, Xiaoshan and Zhuji. The 35.4km stretch will complete the loop of the 97.79km highway in 2019.
