Beautiful towns honored

THE Zhejiang government bestowed the title of “Beautiful Countryside” to six counties and 100 rural towns in the province recently.

Tonglu County and 11 towns in Lin’an and Tonglu, all located around Hangzhou, made the list.

They are Qingliangfeng, Heqiao, Taihuyuan, Taiyang, Tianmushan and Banqiao towns in Lin’an. Qingliangfeng has the famous Qingliang Peak Nature Reserve and the highest peak in Zhejiang. Heqiao is famous for a 2,000-meter-long old street lined with over 100 houses built in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Taihuyuan and Taiyang are towns famous for their water scenery. Baisha Village in Taihuyuan is one of the sources of the Taihu Lake. Taiyang is at the foot of Tianmu Mountain where two creeks join.

Tianmushan is near the Tianmu Mountain Nature Reserve, famous for hundreds of century-old trees while Banqiao has 12 beautiful forest farms.

The five towns in Tonglu County — Fuchunjiang, Yaolin, Hechun, Fenshui and E’shan — are all tourist attractions.
