2022 Asian Games

The 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou will have 34 events, including 27 Olympic sports, an Olympic Council of Asia general meeting decided in Turkmenistan on September 20.
Hangzhou has decided to proceed with planning an Asian Sports Village in line with the council’s requirements. It will include the athletes’ village, media village and sports administrators’ village.
The Hangzhou delegation to the OCA meeting said that, in addition to Hangzhou, Asian Games sports villages will be set up in other cities of Zhejiang Province.
All sites will be chosen to facilitate competition and help give athletes relaxing leisure time. Construction is scheduled to start by end of the year.
The Olympic Council of Asia and participating delegates endorsed the preparation work and the rate of progress.
“The beauty, vitality and facilities of Hangzhou left a deep impression on me,” said OCA President, Sheikh Ahmad al-Fahad al-Sabah, of Kuwait. “With the full support of the Chinese government, Hangzhou will definitely host a successful Asian Games.”
President Xi Jinping met the OCA President in Tianjin on August 27. Xi said that China fully supports Hangzhou’s preparations and believes the event will be a success.
