Innovation fair kicks off in Chengdu

The 2016 China (Chengdu) Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair, one of the top information technology and innovation events in west China, opened today in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province.

More than 300 exhibitors attended the three-day exhibition, from giants like Google and Tesla to many startups from the Silicon Valley and Chengdu, as well as some top ventral capital investors. The exhibition takes two halls with more than 15,000 square meters, covering exhibition area, stock equity trade zone and on-site recruiting zone.

Besides business executives and digital heroes, government leaders, Nobel Prize winners, academicians and scientists, university presidents, diplomats and investors also attended the conference and exhibition.

During the conference, Arthur B McDonald, the 2015 Nobel Prize winner for physics, talked about development of neutrino research and the reason why it makes sense to normal people. Brian Ring, chief scientist of US-based YiGene, said that genetic diagnosis should be available to the public, with information sharing and data analysis.

Visitors gathered in the booths with technology demonstrations like robot, drone and virtual reality.

Besides the exhibition, the three-day event includes 12 high-level forums that focus on the development trend of innovation and entrepreneurship, trade fairs for innovation and entrepreneurship resources and two innovation and entrepreneurship contests, organizers said.

The event is held annually in Chengdu with strong technology and talent resources and friendly investment environment.

In 2015, the 2015 Chengdu Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair drew more than 200 exhibitors and made 109 deals worth 5.32 billion yuan (US$807 million) singing on-site.
