Rules for Winning a Prize in the Buzzword

Buzzwords is a special weekly column published in Shanghai Daily from today. Usually, the column will appear on Mondays, both in the Metro Section of the newspaper and on Shanghai Daily's Website.
To encourage readers to participate in the contest by submitting their own translation of the Chinese buzzwords listed in the column, Shanghai Daily and the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Commission, the co-sponsor of the column, will offer prizes for the winners.
The detailed rules for winning a prize are as follows:
A. Participants and Winners
(1) Any reader who submits his/her translation of the Chinese words or phrases listed in the Buzzwords column to Shanghai Daily by fax, mail or e-mail is deemed as a participant in the Buzzwords Contest.
(2) Winners will be selected by a special panel of judges consisting of English language experts, senior translators and editors on the merits of the translation submitted by the participants. The judging panel will be organized by Shanghai Daily and its co-sponsor of the column.
(3) Up to five winners will be announced quarterly and about six annual winners will be chosen by the end of the year. Annual winners will be selected from the quarterly winners in the same year.
(4) To win a prize, participants must provide their correct contact information (name, e-mail address and telephone number).
B. Prizes
(1) Quarterly winners will be entitled to a one-year free subscription to the Shanghai Daily on-line edition.
(2) Annual winner:
-First prize (one winner): A 4-day Magic Disney trip from Shanghai to Hong Kong, including Shanghai-Hong Kong return air tickets, accommodation and Disneyland ticket for one person.
-Second prize (two winners): A 2-day trip to tourism cities near Shanghai, including accommodation and transport for one person.
-Third prize (three winners): A 1-day trip to tourism towns inside or near Shanghai, including accommodation and transport for one person.
(3) The quarterly prize will be given out through e-mail. Annual prizes will be given out in Shanghai. Shanghai Daily and its co-sponsor are not responsible for visas and return tickets for winners outside Shanghai to get to the city to claim the prize.
(4) Annual prizes may not be used during Chinese tourism peak seasons, including the week-long holidays of Spring Festival, the Labor Day holiday and the National Holiday.
C. Other Terms
(1) Interpretation of these Rules and explanation on other issues related to the Buzzwords Contest rest with Shanghai Daily and the Shanghai Municipal Tourism Commission.
(2) The Rules will become effective on October 8, 2005.
(3) The Rules will be terminated upon the cancellation of the Buzzwords column in Shanghai Daily.
D. Duration
The competition is valid until December 31, 2006.
