Green car scheme expanding

UNDER the encouragement of green transport, EVCard, one of the country’s biggest hourly car rental operator, said the number of its electric cars made available around the country has surpassed 10,000.

“I see a promising future in the car-sharing industry, and EVCard has been developing solidly in its own pace,” Cao Guangyu, general manager of Global Car Sharing & Rental Co, which owns EVCard, said in Shanghai.

EVCard has expended its service to over 20 cities around the country. More than 4,000 vehicles are currently in operation in Shanghai. Registered users can book and pay for a ride via their smartphone.

Cao said user’s experience and habit are two important factors in the self-help car rental business.

“There might be technical problems that customers are not yet used to. But self-help car rental service has its competitiveness including low cost, flexibility and privacy. It will be a growing trend in the future,” said Cao.
