CSR seals deal for 30 LRVs in Malaysia

CHINA’S leading railway car manufacturer, China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Corp (CSR), signed a contract in Kuala Lumpur yesterday with a Malaysian company to supply 30 light rail vehicles for Malaysia Ampang Line, nine of which will be produced in Malaysia.

This is CSR Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive Co’s second project for mass transit vehicles for Malaysia, and the new LRVs are three-car trains with a designed maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

The new vehicles will be operated on Ampang Line and Ampang Extension Line with the existing LRVs.

At the signing ceremony with Prasarana, Malaysia’s largest asset owner of public transport services and facilities, Zhou Qinghe, chairman and general manager of CSR ZELC, said they will do their best to run the project well.

Zhou also said they will cooperate with the Malaysian company in terms of capital, participate in building Malaysia transport in various ways and transfer the advanced technology and management concept to Malaysia.
