Dafeng eyes more manufacturing

DAFENG District, in Jiangsu Province’s Yancheng City, is ready to receive a bigger share of manufacturing capacity that Shanghai will transfer under the city’s industrial restructuring.

“Dafeng is willing to receive the transferred manufacturing capacity from Shanghai,” Ni Feng, Party secretary of the district, said at a meeting yesterday. “With the construction of the Shanghai-Jiangsu Industrial Cluster, we are confident to enhance the business relationship.”

The cluster, sponsored by the Shanghai and Jiangsu governments, has a planned area of 33 square kilometers in Dafeng. A 2-square-kilometer area is operational. The cluster is set to become a base for relocated manufacturers from Shanghai and be a model for business cooperation in the Yangtze River Delta region.

At the meeting, 35 business deals in industries such as information technology and machinery equipment were inked. They were said to be worth 13.2 billion yuan (US$2 billion), with US$215 million being foreign investments.
