Tmall teams up with nine multinational retailers

ALIBABA'S retail site Tmall said it has teamed up with nine multinational retailers to help bring imported goods to Chinese consumers and to offer a wider range of merchandise as shoppers are seeking beyond the border for high quality products.

Retailers including America's Costco, New Zealand's Countdown, Korea's Lottemart have reach a partnership with Tmall to integrate each other's logistics and delivery system as overseas retailers are eager to tap the booming Chinese market, according to a joint statement today.

These overseas retailers' pricing at Tmall will also be consistent with their global outlets thanks to the e-commerce giant's vast consumer base and strong inventory management capability.

Costco, which opened a flagship store on Tmall last year, is eying to launch tailor-made products for Chinese consumers.

Tmall's International section was launched in October last year, and by the end of last year, as many as 5,400 overseas brands from 25 countries and regions have opened their official stores at Tmall, Alibaba said.

It is also stepping up efforts to speed up customs clearance procedure and delivery process through working with customs authorities in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou and Ningbo.
