Oppo R7 smartphone charges in a flash

OPPO yesterday launched its latest “flash charging” R7 smartphone model as it aims to raise its share of the fiercely competitive Chinese market, the Shenzhen-based smartphone vendor said.

The R7, with its unique next-generation battery flash charging technology developed by Oppo, allows users to talk for two hours after a five-minute charge, the company said at a Beijing conference yesterday.

Oppo has set up over 1,500 sites nationwide to offer users free flash charging services outdoors for the super-thin R7 with semi-professional photography functions.

China’s mobile Internet revenue, totaling US$1.8 trillion in 2014, is likely to surpass that of the US for the first time this year, said Huai Jinpeng, vice head of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
