LETV yesterday launched its virtual-reality headset, COOL1, the latest step by the company to build an ecosystem involving hardware, content and cutting-edge technology.
Other leading hardware makers such as Samsung and Sony have also launched VR devices as they tap the latest technology trend.
The COOL1 headset is priced at 149 yuan (US$23) and can be used with a Letv smartphone. Viewers can access 3D films from the company’s video streaming platform.
The company is working to form an alliance with some 10,000 content providers to provide high-quality content.
