Huawei banks on Honor
HUAWEI Technologies is banking on its Honor brand of smartphones that targets young consumers to help the company develop overseas sales as part of its strategy to expand globally.
Huawei, which launched the Honor 7 in Beijing yesterday, aims to sell 40 million Honor models globally this year. In the first half of this year, the revenue of the Honor brand hit US$2.6 billion, with about 20 million units sold in 74 countries and regions — the same number for the whole of last year, according to George Zhao, president of the brand at Huawei, which is also China’s biggest telecommunications equipment manufacturer.
“We will expand in India, Mexico, Japan, Europe and even the United States when we are ready,” said Zhao.
