Facebook to hire more Chinese staff, Zuckerberg says
FACEBOOK will recruit more Chinese staff in 2015 to help domestic firms expand their overseas business, though the social network is not available in the Chinese mainland, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg said yesterday in Beijing.
The company will recruit more Chinese graduate students next year after just recruiting 20 students in the country, Zuckerberg said during a lecture at the Tsinghua University, which was broadcast online as a 29-minute video clip.
Zuckerberg also praised Chinese tech firms and Internet services such as Tencent’s WeChat, Alibaba and Xiaomi.
The founder also joined the advisory council of the Tsinghua’s School of Economics and Management, whose board members also include Apple chief executive Tim Cook.
Facebook has already helped Chinese firms, such as Lenovo Group Ltd, to expand in overseas markets through its channels and advertising services. For example, it held a seminar in Shanghai in July at Chinajoy, the country’s biggest game show, and invited local game firms to attend.
