Dell keen to connect to China ‘cloud’
DELL Inc said yesterday that it plans to invest US$125 billion in China over the next five years, with cloud computing being a major focus for the spending.
Michael Dell, chairman and chief executive of the United States-based IT giant said in his keynote at the Big Data expo that the company has signed a cooperation deal with Guizhou-based Wind Cloud to provide cloud services to small and medium-sized companies.
“China is playing a major role in this era of digital globalization. Internet Plus, Big Data and cloud computing together have become the new engine of China’s future economic growth,” he said.
Dell is also planning today to join a cloud industry alliance with more than 10 local firms as part of efforts to “better serve the market,” said its China President Huang Chenhong.
