China to unveil blueprint on Big Data in H2

CHINA will unveil a national Big Data development blueprint in the second half of the year to tap advanced data analysis technologies and applications to create a market revenue of 17 billion yuan (US$2.6 billion) in 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said yesterday.

The blueprint covers a step-by-step national development for Big Data in the country’s 13th Five-Year (2016-2020) Plan, the industrial applications for Big Data, setting up local Big Data institutions and a national standard for Big Data, said Zhang Feng, chief engineer of the ministry.

“The blueprint will push China to become a country not only with a huge volume of data but also with advanced data analysis technologies and applications,” said Zhang.

The market revenue in China for Big Data, one of the promising IT technologies, is expected at 17 billion yuan in 2017, up from 10.2 billion yuan last year, according to Beijing-based Analysys International.
