Alibaba Health teams up with Sanofi

Alibaba’s Hong Kong-listed healthcare services affiliate Alibaba Health Information Technology Ltd has signed a framework agreement with pharma giant Sanofi and the two companies would further collaborate on topics such as online to offline health services, disease management and patient education.

Sanofi will also leverage its medical expertise to provide through Alibaba’s online service platform healthcare services for patients and their families especially for chronicle disease such as diabetes.

Jean-Christophe Pointeau, general manager of pharma at Sanofi China, noted that chronic disease management is the business focus shared by both Sanofi and Ali Health.

Ali Health vice president Ma Li said the two parties aim to create an integrated innovative medical and health services network.

The two parties would work out a detailed collaboration plan by the end of this year and both companies are expected to explore ways to provide patients, pharmacies and doctors with services and support for drug purchases and administration through the O2O models.
