Shanghai to tap innovative studies

SHANGHAI hopes to adopt some case studies presented by multinational companies at an exhibition to help the city meet its ambition of becoming a global innovation center in science and technology.

Selected through competitions over the past two years, the 43 case studies ranged from daily life such as how to make better use of wastes or how to guarantee food safety, to high technology in aerospace and biomedical science.

The exhibition also includes an introduction of the 13th Five-Year (2016-2020) Plan for the city and its blueprint for 2040 to help Shanghai grow into an “excellent global city.”

Running through November 13 at the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Center, the event’s opening yesterday was attended by consul generals, government officials, and executive from MNCs, including Covestro, 3M and Toyota.

The exhibition, open to the public, is part of warm-up events for the upcoming meeting of the International Business Leaders’ Advisory Council where leaders of the world’s best companies meet the mayor of Shanghai to advise on how to make the city a better place to live and work.
