Shanghai FTZ to open duty-free shop
SHANGHAI’S pilot free trade zone will open a duty-free shop to offer good deals on cosmetics and fragrance to both foreign and domestic customers.
To be located in an office building in the Pudong Airport Comprehensive Free Trade Zone, the FTZ’s first duty-free shop will sell imported cosmetics and perfumes, according to a news release on the city government’s website today.
Foreigners can choose products and make payment at the shop, but have to pick up them at designated areas in airports. Duty-free products are also available for domestic consumers who have passports with exit permits to leave the country.
The shop will be operated by Sunrise Duty Free, which runs duty free shops at international airports in Shanghai and Beijing.
The shop also provides taxed products to all customers. Due to the lower rental cost in the zone, even taxed luxury cosmetics and fragrance can be cheaper than those sold in shopping malls outside the zone, said the news release.
