Electronics, fashion top export list
ELECTRONIC goods and fashion products top the list of exports by Chinese e-commerce companies, with the United States and the United Kingdom the biggest shipping destinations, eBay said in a survey yesterday.
“Exports from China e-commerce companies have been larger and more expensive as exporters expand their business and upgrade their logistics services,” John Lin, eBay China managing director, said in Shanghai.
The 2014 China Retail Export Industry Development Trend report released by the e-commerce giant yesterday found exports of electronic goods and fashion remained on top of all exporting categories in terms of volume, while furniture and gardening was the fastest growing category followed by car accessories.
Mature markets such as the US, the UK and Australia were the top-3 export destinations and Argentina the fastest growing market with export value more than double in 2013 from a year ago.
Exports to mature markets will continue to increase this year backed by recovering consumer demand, while new web users in emerging markets will power a surge in business, the report said.
The survey was based on 841 China-based retailers on eBay. Half of them were “positive” about business this year.
