Beijing reclaims best paid city from Shanghai
BEIJING reclaimed its title from Shanghai as the best paid city on the Chinese mainland for white-collar workers in the second quarter, recruitment portal Zhaopin.com said yesterday.
Beijing white-collar workers get a monthly average salary of 9,240 yuan (US$1,388), followed by Shanghai at 8,962 yuan.
Shenzhen remained at No. 3 at 8,315 yuan, Zhaopin.com said in a report based on job positions posted on the website.
The average salary in 34 major cities rose to 7,233 yuan from 7,018 yuan in the first quarter.
The best paid jobs in Shanghai were in treasury, legal and human resources with an average monthly salary of 12,936 yuan, ahead of 12,633 yuan for jobs in energy.
The website found small companies with fewer than 20 employees are the most generous employers while those with more than 1,000 staff offer the lowest average wages.
