Banker to be Jilin’s deputy Party chief

THE chairman of the Agricultural Bank of China will be appointed deputy Party secretary of Jilin Province.

Jiang Chaoliang’s appointment was announced by Wang Qinfeng, deputy head of the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, at a Sunday meeting organized by the provincial Party committee, according to a statement posted on the website of the provincial government yesterday.

Beijing-based AgBank, the third-biggest lender in the country, said in a filing to the Hong Kong stock exchange yesterday that Jiang has tendered his resignation as the chairman and an executive director of the board, which took effect on Sunday.

Local media reports said Jiang’s most likely successor would be the current vice chairman and president of AgBank, Zhang Yun.

Jiang became chairman of AgBank in December 2011 after being its executive director.

Jiang served as vice chairman and president at China Development Bank for three years, and over four years as chairman of the Bank of Communications.

He also served as vice governor of Hubei Province.
