New Kohler suites show design, tech strengths

THIS year marks the twentieth anniversary of bath and kitchen fixture leader Kohler’s entry into the Chinese market. At the recent Kitchen & Bath China 2016 event in Shanghai, Kohler once again showed its strengths in style and design.
The company’s 400 square-meter booth included hundreds of products divided into seven themes, including intelligent connection, creative style, subtle-clean and environmentally friendly.
The company also displayed three of its latest bathroom product suites.
Kohler Konnect
One of the company’s newest bathroom systems — called Kohler Konnect — allows for easy control of smart bathroom gadgets through a handy mobile app. The system provides a complete smart bathroom solution, as well as a foundation to develop and apply Internet technologies in the kitchen and bathroom industry. It marks a full display of Internet plus smart home devices.
Kohler Konnect includes a combination of the company’s VAB upgraded Underscore bathtub, Numi integrated super sensitive intelligent toilet, DTV+ intelligent constant temperature shower system, Steam shower equipment, filtered-water dispenser and heater/air purifier.
Users can control many of these items directly through an easy-to-use mobile app. Kohler Konnect can accept commands from more than one mobile phone. Users can even customize temperature and system settings to suit the preferences of each member of the family.
When any user sits down on a toilet, the heater/air purifier automatically turns on; and after a steam shower the heater/air purifier automatically kicks off ventilation. Users can also receive alerts when the bathtub is full, as well as warnings about water leaks or breaks — all delivered through the mobile app.
They can also use the app to access repair information and water consumption statistics.
Ming Suite
Another Kohler masterpiece rolled out in honor of its anniversary in China is the Ming Suite.
The company has a long history of seeking perfection in the combination of creative design and top-notch performance. Indeed, Kohler’s all-black Katherine Suite, first launched in 1929, is even part of the collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
But while the Kohler Konnect Suite showcases the company’s technical strengths, the Ming Suite underscores its design prowess and “dare to create” spirit.
The design of the Ming Suite draws inspiration from the traditional interlocking structures and artistic motifs of Ming Dynasty furniture.
The collection is endowed with the noble temperament of the classic Katherine Suite, and the elegant simplicity of modern minimalist design. It is truly a combination of East meets West, a union of modern and tradition that transcends time and space.
Kohler offers a complete set of Ming Suite products, although individual pieces can match a variety of home decor styles. The suite includes bathroom furniture, table stands, a moon-shaped mirror, induction lighting and a cast-iron bathtub.
Modern Life Suite
With its simple design sensibilities, subtle colors, fast-clean coating and careful attention to detail, the Kohler Modern Life Suite proves that less can be more.
Details are the main focus of this suite. Each individual piece is carefully considered to provide an enjoyable, hassle-free experience. DFI coating makes each piece stain resistant, while a hidden water-proof design helps keep surfaces clean and tidy. Meanwhile, a clever internal design prevents hair clogging, and touch-free toilet flushing technology keeps hands away from potential contact with bacteria.
New materials like toughened glass and modern design techniques give users a sense of the avant garde.
‘Bathroom Oscars’
Kitchen & Bath China is Asia’s largest and most influential event for the kitchen and bathroom product industry. In fact, the high stature of the event has earned it the nickname “Bathroom Oscars.”
