Innovative Cargill

FOOD and agricultural products supplier Cargill yesterday launched its innovation center in Shanghai, its largest in Asia. With an initial investment of 12 million yuan (US$1.7 million) and employing 50 scientists, the Cargill One center will focus on three areas of innovation: taste, food ingredients and menus.

Todd Hall, senior vice president of Cargill, said the center will serve the Chinese market in the first place to meet the fast changing demand of Chinese consumers, while it will also cooperate with other innovation centers of Cargill to deliver the most advanced research.

As a supplier to firms like McDonald’s and Yum! Brands, Cargill choose Shanghai as the center’s location to stay close to the clients.
