VW to recall New Sagitars
VOLKSWAGEN has been told to recall more than 580,000 cars due to a rear axle defect, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, said yesterday.
The move, which will begin on February 2, affects 563,000 New Sagitars made in China between May 2011 and May 2014, and 17,485 imported Beetles made between April 24, 2012 and July 17, 2013.
The announcement came two months after the watchdog launched a probe into the axle problem following complaints from Sagitar owners.
In July, FAW-Volkswagen, the joint venture that makes the Sagitar in China, said it was aware of a small number of cases of the model having a problem with its rear axle, but that there were no major issues with the design or manufacturing process.
