Uber turns cool in a hot day
Ride-hailing application Uber said its "Ice Cream Day" event in China received higher than expected requests this afternoon as the marketing campaign aiming at enters the fifth year.
The campaign, which started at 11 am today in more than 40 domestic cities, ended before 4:30 pm with consumers eager to take a bite of Magnum delivered by Uber drivers to their doorsteps in the hot summer in the event which was designed to last six hours.
Globally, more than 400 cities participated in the campaign and pricing and the vehicles used to dispatch the ice creams vary in different regions.
Passengers in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Wuhan, Nanjing and Jinan received a box of tailor-made flavour of Magnum while others in cities include Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Tianjin get Haagen Dazs packages.
Uber didn't disclose how much orders it received on the "Ice Cream Day".
