Changan Ford unveils 3 all new sedans in city

ADHERING to the “1515 strategy” of Ford China since 2011, with promises of not only delivering 15 new vehicle models to China by 2015, but also keeping the rate of product releases in China the same as overseas, Changan Ford has experienced an astonishing sales trajectory in the last four years.

And this is set to continue through 2015. The company achieved a 12 percent year-on-year growth in sales to nearly 220,000 units in the first quarter, a strong momentum it carried from last year. This remarkable performance also marks a milestone in Changan Ford’s continuous efforts to win the hearts of Chinese customers.

The strategy has successfully led to the growth of Changan Ford’s product portfolio, which included only Mondeo, Focus, Fiesta and S-Max in 2011, to most of the mainstream segments of China’s passenger car market. And now the company is set to go further in its niche-market venture with the rollout of three new models at Ford’s pre-show last week for the opening of Auto Shanghai 2015.

The All New Ford Edge and the all-new Ford Taurus will help Changan Ford explore the medium SUV and flagship sedan segments respectively while the All New Ford Focus will help reinforce its dominance in the compact fun-to-drive offering, all featuring the latest design and technologies that the Chinese love to see.

Carrying on Ford’s 50-year heritage in the SUV segment, the All New Ford Edge is a whole package to meet the increasingly diverse needs of the customers, be it for business and families use. It is available in up to seven variations, including 5-seat and 7-seat options, and the MSRP ranging is from 249,800 yuan (US$40,300) to 429,800 yuan.

Its 3-row and 7-seat layout ensures spacious and flexible interior roominess, which can be increased by a market-leading rear seat via Power Easy Fold, and in-cabin quiet provided by Active Noise Cancellation.

Smart equipment also includes the class-exclusive 360-degree camera, Panorama Vision System, Glare-free LED headlamps with the Adaptive Front Lighting System, an All Wheel Drive system, MyKey and a heated steering wheel.

The car’s body is made from ultra-strength steel with laser welding, thermal formation, hydro-formation and roller formation.

The All New Ford Edge not only offers cutting-edge technologies but also the thrilling experience of driving on the edge.

The wild spirit of its SUV gene feels very alive under the bonnet. Besides an upgraded 2.0-liter, EcoBoost® GTDi engine, there is a formidable 2.7-liter EcoBoost® GTDi V6 engine, which for the first time powers a Changan Ford model with its twin-turbo technology, delivering maximum power of 242KW, and torque of 475N•m. Both engines are fitted with SelectShiftTM 6-speed automatic transmissions.

Other than the new high-output twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost® V6 engine, the all-new Ford Taurus, as the new top-of-the-range model for Ford, is also about comfortable features. For example, it is the first of the Ford line to have power-reclining rear seats with optional adjustable lumbar support and massage function.

China is never short of people who appreciate enhanced dynamics.

The All New Ford Focus, the all-time classic in Ford’s portfolio and China’s best-selling nameplate for three years in a row, is celebrating the delivery of its two-millionth unit in the country with a new design.

It is not just about getting a sleek updated look. Class-exclusive smart driver assistance technologies seen in Focus overseas, Lane-Keeping Aid (LKA), SYNC® and enhanced Active City Stop (ACS) have been incorporated in China’s Focus to make driving even more fun.
