Bosch sees 19% rise in China sales

GERMAN industrial group Bosch garnered a 19 percent rise in sales in China last year from a year ago to 91.5 billion yuan (US$13.3 billion), led by its applications in new-energy vehicles and smart transport.

Sales in China accounted for 17 percent of Bosch’s global total of 73.1 billion euros (US$81 billion) last year, with the market being the biggest outside Germany. Automobiles were the fastest growing sector, whose sales jumped 23 percent from 2015 — higher than the gross annual growth of 14 percent in car sales in China.

“Such an increase benefited from our investment and development in new-energy car applications, covering batteries and connecting systems,” said Peter Tyroller, management board member of Bosch.

Bosch invested 5.6 billion yuan in research and development in China last year.
