‘Uber life’ to go beyond taxi hailing

Uber Shanghai said it has launched a new service for local riders where they can receive coupons for eateries, restaurants and retailers as a new move for the ride-hailing application to bring consumers value-added service.

The new service, called "Uber Life", can be accessed from the sidebar of the Uber app for Shanghai riders, and Uber Shanghai general manager Kate Wang explained that the ride-hailing app hopes to go beyond car-hailing and expect to serve as a lifesytle guide for local residents.

It will also include local cultural activities in the future as it hopes to forge a closer tie between riders and various types of service providers.

After having launched its service in Shanghai two years ago, the US-based company has collaborated with a number of local companies. It now operates in 58 domestic cities.
