Poland seeks stronger business ties with China

Poland expects to enhance business ties with China by promoting its image as a modern and competitive economy, a Polish official said as the country launched a marketing campaign.

“Being called 'China in Europe', Poland shares a lot of similarities with China in terms of culture and economy,” said Andrzej Pieczonka, first counselor at the Consulate General of Poland. “We used to be export-oriented, we are a 'green land' not hit hard by the global financial crisis, and we are looking for new way to develop our economy.”

Pieczonka suggested the two countries further business cooperation since they already have a good commercial relationship.

An example of this relationship includes Chinese consumers being able to buy fresh diary products from Poland. Zhejiang Moon & Star Trade Co Ltd started importing milk from Poland two years ago.

Also, a Polish amber shop will soon be opening in Shanghai.

“Poland is strong in areas including agriculture, medicine, jewelry, power production, as well as cosmetics. We want to spread the word so more Chinese know about our products,” said Pieczonka.
