International sourcing fair opens in Shanghai

CHINA and Germany will enhance cooperation in intelligent manufacturing as an agreement was signed during the 2016 International Sourcing Fair which rolled out a roadmap for further collaboration.

The roadmap that kicks off Sino-German Industry 4.0 cooperation was signed yesterday by Germany’s Institute for Automation and Industrial Technology and several companies including the Shanghai International Sourcing Promotion Center, the equipment finance sector of Pingan Bank and Huai’an New & High Tech Industry Development Zone in Jiangsu Province.

The 2016 International Sourcing Fair, which had a focus on intelligent manufacturing and transformation of global supply chain this year, opened yesterday at the Shanghai Convention & Exhibition Center of International Sourcing.

The three-day fair, co-hosted by the Shanghai International Sourcing Promotion Center and the Shanghai Commission of Commerce under the support of the Ministry of Commerce, has invited buyers to set up booths and list out what they expect to purchase. It reverses the traditional model of suppliers showing their products, in a bid to better present the market demand.

This year, 235 buyers from home and abroad have set up booths at the fair, including industrial giants such as GE, ABB, Bosch and IBM. Those from Europe hit a record high with the occupation of 70 booths.
