Cross-Strait economic talks scheduled for Jan. 29
THE seventh regular meeting of the Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation Committee (ECC) will be held on Jan. 29 in Taipei, the Chinese mainland's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) announced on Monday.
Zheng Lizhong, convener of the ECC on the mainland and executive vice president of ARATS, and Gao Yan, ECC chief representative and vice commerce minister, will head the mainland delegation to the meeting, ARATS said in a press release.
The decision was made according to the 11th provision in the Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA), a wide-ranging cross-Strait economic pact signed in 2010.
At the meeting, ECC members from the two sides will review the implementation of the ECFA and the progress of six working groups on goods and service trade, investment, dispute settlement, industry and customs cooperation.
They will also exchange views on setting up economic and trade associations on both sides of the strait, expanding and deepening cross-Strait cooperation, the economic situation, as well as plan their future work, according to the press release.
The last regular meeting was held last August in Beijing.
